2 Corinthians 9:7 Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
Malachi 3:10 Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. And thereby put me to the test, says the Lord of hosts, if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you a blessing until there is no more need.
The question becomes how do you deal with it? We cannot point fingers nor can we blame the other person for our finances. Finances can put so much pressure on the individual as well as the whole entire family. Some marriages have been destroyed over it because they just could not handle the pressure.
With the cost of things in today’s world we have two parents working outside of the home to make their ends meet. And even with that we still find ourselves struggling to just keep above water. When it comes to finances it can place a wedge between the husband and wife.
One of the ways we can get a grip on our finances is to turn to scripture. You and I know that some people would not agree with our view on finances when it comes to scripture, but Jesus gave us the perfect plan for our family budget. He tells us in Malachi 3:10 Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the LORD Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it.
When it comes to tithes and offerings did you know that many Christians do not tithe or give in offerings? They have their own reasons as to why they should not tithe or give in offerings. I have heard some say well it is only in the Old Testament it is not in the New Testament. Well how wrong they are because God spoke it in both Old and New Testament.
This is the one time where God tells us to test Him in this area. But whatever your reason may be for not tithing of giving in offerings it is a matter of the heart. Because whatever is in your heart that which you will do. The bible says” in Matthew 6:21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. (Which means when a person does not tithe or give in offerings their money is their treasure and they are not going to give it up).
There was a time in my life where I was that type of person that I would not tithe like I should I knew the word but I always made excuses as to why I could not give like I should. My Pastor always made mention of tithing and I would just hate hearing it, could it be I was being convicted? Yes, I was being convicted every Sunday. I would find myself struggling about giving.
But something happen to me one Sunday while in church the Spirit dealt with my heart so much that I could not stop crying I thought of all the Love, Grace and Mercy Jesus has given to me and how could I not give back to Him. People can ask us for probably anything in this world and we will probably say yes to it. But when they ask for money it is like we suddenly, are deaf.
Why do we have this misconceived notion that God is only going to bless us with money? Are we that loyal to money that we rather have money instead of being blessed with good health? And what about being in a right frame of mind. In 3 John 1:2 Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospered.
I do not know about you, but I thank God that I am in my right mind and that I have good health. In our household money has its proper place for paying bills, but money cannot buy me anything. Do not stop giving to God in tithes and offerings, remember when you give God your tenth, He will bless you beyond.
Still to this day I know God to be true in this area of giving. During this pandemic I never stopped giving my tithes. God has been blessing just like His word said. He has given me a hundred-fold return. He has opened the windows of heaven and poured blessings upon blessing on me.
I ask you, “what do you want God to bless you on? “Do you want God to bless you on what you gave, or do you want God to open the windows of heaven for you?
Have a fabulous weekend.
Preach! Giving is for our own good. I love that we can hold on to Malachi 3:10 whenever the devourer shows up. When health issues rise up to steal my money and peace, Mal 3:10 comes to mind. Perhaps some Christians have difficulty giving because they don’t see it as an act of worship and expression of complete trust in God to take care of them. God help us🙏
Exactly Temi,
God is true to His word. It all comes to a person’s heart. As you mentioned it is an expression of worship. Have a great weekend sis.
