Job 4:1-21 says’ Then Eliphaz and Temanite replied: If someone ventures a word with you, will you be impatient? But who can keep from speaking.
Chapter 4 begins with the dialogue or conversation between Job and his three friends: Eliphaz, Bildad and Zophar. During this time Job has already experienced the death of his children, his servant Job’s second test was his skin was affected by painful sores from his head to his feet.
His wife is telling him to curse God and die and then here comes his friends. Telling him that Job must have lived a sinful life, and this is his punishment.
It is one thing to go through trials it is another to have so-called friends come to your side and tell you that you must have done something wrong. Sadly, enough in our day in age there are people who believes that truly righteous and godly people will always prosper.
While sinners will suffer and that poverty and suffering always are a sign of sinfulness, while prosperity and success are a sign of righteousness.
God later revealed that this attitude is wrong, and it represents foolishness. In Job chapter 42:7 it is reads, after the Lord has said these things to Job, he said to Eliphaz the Temanite ” I am angry with you and your two friends, because you have not spoken of me what is right as my servant Job has.
How do you oversee your friends when they come speaking to you like Job’s friends spoke to him? Will you remain faithful even when no one understands why you are holding your ground?
As the saying goes who need friends like these? But its friends like these that really needs to see your faith in GOD. AMEN
