Joshua 1:9, Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.”
If I asked you what does “Strong” means to you? What is your definition? In scripture we see the word strong, be of good courage. You and I misinterpret what that word means.
When life challenges us it feels like a burden upon our shoulders, causing us to walk with our heads and hearts dismay.
God is saying He wants you and I to stand. When we stand with the fact of knowing who God is to us, we need not fear anything. That my friend is what being strong is all about. We cannot rely upon ourselves; we are not capable of handling anything. It is God Himself who gives us the strength to be strong.
The last two days at work was a challenge for me, I felt defeated. My stomach was in all knots. On my break I just literally cried out to God and said, “if this is where you want me, I need you to speak to me now not tomorrow.” Well, I can say that God always comes to the rescue of His children when we call upon Him,
Those knots were no longer in my stomach and my countenance changed immediately. As if it never happened. See, I had allowed the enemy to get me worked up to the point I felt defeated. As a child of God, we are never defeated even if we feel like it. For we walk by faith not by sight. God had restored my strength at that very hour. What a God we serve.
May we remember that we are strong in God apart from God we are not strong.
