Luke 21:1-4 says “As Jesus looked up, he saw the rich putting their gifts into the temple treasury. He also saw a poor widow put in two very small copper coins. Truly I tell you,”He said, “this poor widow has put in more than all the others. All these people gave their gifts out of their wealth; but she out of her poverty put in all she had to live on.”
According to what one has, what matter is the willingness, which is the motive of true generosity no matter how small the amount that can be afforded.
I have always loved this story, and no one tells it better than our Lord Jesus. Anytime you and I do anything God is always looking at our heart. We may think that our intentions are good, but God does not care what our intentions are, He is concern about that heart.
And when the heart is not right nothing that we do will be good. No matter how much you give in your monies, talents, and time. It will wither. This is why some believe that they are saved by works, for they believe that they have to keep doing works to earn their way into heaven.
Let me set the scene for you, it was offering time in the church and this woman worshipped Jesus just as the rest of the people in the temple. But when it came to giving, she only had 2 mites which represents 2 coins. Those two coins was all she had, and she gave out of what she had.
Turned out she gave more than others had. It had nothing to do with the amount she gave the reason she gave more than others was because she gave all she had. Are you giving to God all you have? Giving God all you have is never about possessions or material things, it’s a willing heart and that is what the Father seeks a willing heart.
Have a bless day today. 🙏🤗
Amen.
