Worldly Wisdom vs Spiritual Wisdom

Colossians 2:8 See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the world, and not according to Christ.

Take heed lest anyone plunder or rob you of your faith and hope by philosophy.” These false teachers would strip them of their faith and hope, as an invading army would rob a country of all that was valuable.

Jesus instructed us to be wise and shrewd as serpents. Godly wisdom is innocent, gentle, reasonable, peace-loving, impartial, and sincere. It is full of mercy and willing to yield to others. It leads to godliness and peaceful relationships with others.

The world sees the message of the cross as foolishness The world does not know God. The world relies on the power of words. It takes pride in personal accomplishment. Worldly wisdom will be caught in its own craftiness, arrogantly wounds others, leads to envy, strife, and division. The world will not last.

Spiritual wisdom realizes the message of the cross is the power of God. Glories God seeks meekness and humility. Relies on the power of God, recognizes God as source of everything. Spiritual wisdom rejects diversity, becomes servant of all. Seeks others well-being. Purses unity, maintain self-control and discipline. Submits to spiritual leadership.

As children of God, we are to stay away from ungodly influences that will corrupt our hearts. That is why it is so vital that we know God’s word well. Get that word in your spirit. If you do not know God’s word, how are you to decipher His will, His character, you cannot. Knowing God is having that personal relationship with Him and reading His word.

  1. This is a very nice piece. The godly wise things looks foolish to the world.
