Psalm 37:4 says “Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart.
To delight ourselves in the Lord, we must first know Him. “But let the one who boasts boast about this: that they have the understanding to know me, that I am the LORD, who exercises kindness, justice and righteousness on earth, for in these I delight,” declares the LORD” Jeremiah 9:24).
In life we place so much worth into things and our possessions that we neglect to notice that those things don’t last but only for a short time. The reason for that is because it was not a desire from our heart, but it was more of a want.
Christ loves you and I so much that we will never truly understand His love for us, that is why He says, “delight yourself in the Lord, He will give you the desires of your heart.” and to delight is to know Him.
The meaning here is, that we should seek our happiness in God – in his being, his perfections, his friendship, his love. The fact that you seek your happiness in Him will regulate your desires, so that you will ask for those things which pleasing to the Father.
Delight yourself in the Lord and watch what God will do in your your life.
