Self-Care~ Loving Yourself~

on

If I were to ask you, “are you loving yourself?” What would you say? I am going to say that for a lot of us we had to think. Not everyone is even aware that they are to love themselves, let alone how to.

If we venture out to say that we, do we would probably name all the other stuff that we do to love ourselves. And though those things might sound good those things are not how to truly love yourself.

Loving ourselves we first must get in touch with our heart. You thought I was going to say something different right? When we are in touch with our heart, we will find out that we have been doing some settling, compromising, judging, covet and hoarding on to a lot of junk for years.

Why do we settle what is instead of reaching for what is best? Why does trying new things scares us so much? Why do we examine failure as the end. When if fact it is the opposite.

Why are we compromising our belief’s just to make others comfortable? Why do we change ourselves all to be excepted by someone? Why do we judge what we do not understand? Why are we coveting our neighbor? Why do we hold on to the past, rather it be past hurts or past bad attitudes and behaviors?

The answers to all these why’s are that we are not ready to make a change. We have become so comfortable in our own little mind that the idea of changing kills us. We would rather pick and choose instead of loving ourselves.

Loving yourself is not something that we will learn overnight, nor in a matter of days weeks, months or years. Loving ourselves is a process where the Lord peel the layers off of us like an onion.

And while God is peeling those layers, He then places the balm of Gilead on it. Which will heal us from the inside out. For one day you will look without even thinking about it and be like, “wow” looks at God.

When we see ourselves the way God sees and loves us, we too will love ourselves just the way He sees us. The old way of thinking we once had will be gone. The old way of doing things will no longer be our desire. The old attitudes we once had will no longer be a temptation for us.

Do you truly want to love yourself? It starts with God working in your heart. If you say no you are not wanting to love yourself. “Why?”

I am so sorry to hear that you have hit some hard times. When we find ourselves in seasons like that it does at times feel like God is distance. It is then that He is closer than we think. Thank God our faith is not based on our feelings.

You keep holding on to Him, He is working it all out for your good.

That is so true we forget all about ourselves. We must take time for Self-Care. If not, how can we care for others.
